Carmarthenshire Carreg Cennen Castle – OS map 159: SN 668191
Carreg Cennen Castle, Ffairfach is located on an isolated crag above the Cennen Valley, off the A483 road from Llandeilo to Ammanford.
A Celtic tribal settlement before the building of the castle, the earliest record is in the Welsh Chronicles of 1248. A vaulted passage from within the castle leads down a natural limestone passage about 50 meters long. At the bottom the well is situated on a ledge in a niche above the passage floor. Traditionaly this was a bent pin wishing well. TAKE A TORCH!
